Civil war haunted house

I heard an ad on the radio yesterday. It was for a haunted house in a historic house. The house is civil war themed. The ad was full of screams and emphasized the horror. It made me feel a little uneasy. I’m just not comfortable with the idea of using real horror in this kind of way. Am I too sensitive? What do you all think?

What’s a haunted house in a historic house? Maybe you meant a haunted historic house. Anyway it sounds like a cheap halloween sales gimmick.

I have spent a few hours ruminating on this. I, for one, am offended. But then again, I was a soldier.

I’m assuming it’s a haunted house scare attraction for Halloween only - people dressing up in costumes, lots of decorations and things to scare people - which just happens to be set in an authentic historical house. It also sounds like a Civil War theme was used in the attraction. I don’t have enough info to know whether I’d be offended - I guess it depends on the material used and how it’s carried out.

I was disturbed by a haunted house ad I heard on the radio this weekend, featuring a (fake) mother sobbing over her (fake) kidnapped daughter’s disappearance and begging for her return. It sounded very realistic and in the wake of a recent kidnapping and killing of a college gal in Illinois in the past week or two (complete with sobbing mother on the evening news while she was still only missing) it was a bit distasteful.
