Whereas your name is good for a toothpaste. I’m always tempted to write your name as minty green.
To add a few more words of advice -
If something is in one of our FAQ sticky threads in ATMB, I suggest that people simply quote and link to the FAQ. This will prove that it’s the official word from on high, and prevent people from replying “Who died and made you queen?” It will also ensure that you are phrasing the rule / guideline correctly or mostly correctly.
In many cases, helping the moderators is much appreciated. Duck Duck Goose, for example, has been invaluable in her past help in providing links to the referred column in my forum (Comments on Cecil’s Columns.)
As far as “junior modding” goes - I will relate my experience back when I was a young, sweet, virginal poster, before becoming the manly staff member you currently all fear and respect. I would sometimes state my opinion on a board issue, but I was always try to remember to add “I’m not a moderator, but…” and “a moderator may be along shortly to give you the Straight Dope on this issue.” I did that because I knew that IRL many people may get peeved when a third party barges in and starts answering questions that were addressed to someone else.
I’m not a toothpaste. I’m a breath mint.
How about if we quote the FAQ and then add some snarky comments about people that don’t read the FAQqing FAQ? Because that’s what I like to do…
Yes White Lightning, that is perfectly in keeping with the Straight Dope tradition.
It doesn’t happen often, but it did now: I LOL’ed. Priceless stuff, Noodles.
Ok, now I’m suspicious!
