Class Action Lawsuit - got paid!

I’ve gotten a couple, but both were under $20. Possibly I got more for the one with my insurance company. That would have been a credit instead of a check. They used to change the monthly fee up and down and it turns out that was wrong.

Where are you folks getting Amazon gift cards for the Optical Drive settlement? My notice came from this place:

and they say “It depends on what the reward sender offers.” I don’t remember seeing any options. Clicked on an email link and went straight to the virtual credit card.

I received the settlement notice for this case a while back and in the email it asked how I would like to receive the payment. I believe the choices were an Amazon gift card or a pre-paid Visa. I chose Amazon and when the email with the payment came this week I just clicked on the link for the Amazon gift code and added into my account. Super easy.

Way back in 2007 when I was deciding whether to get Sirius or XM satellite radio, each of them had a point in their favor. XM had a better play list, but Sirius had a lifetime subscription. While I was making up my mind, rumors started spreading that they were going to merge. Conveniently making the decision easy. Lifetime subscription it is. Read the fine print. Signed up. Couple of contract stipulations. Can only change radios 5 times. And $75 processing fee each changeover.

Fast forward to 2020. Someone took issue with 5 transfers not being a lifetime and took it to court. And won. So now my lifetime subscription is truly lifetime and the change fee has been reduced to $35.

So while no money in my pocket, it eliminates me having to spend money in the future.

The lifetime fee spent 15 years ago is averaging out to about $2.75 a month right now.

Just got paid $61.08 for the Yahoo data breach settlement. Not too bad for taking 30 seconds to fill out my name on some web form.

I did too. I forgot all about it until it showed up on my bank statement.

$89.25 from JUUL today. I vaguely remember something. That beats anything I’ve ever gotten before in a class-action.

I just got an email saying I’ve received a settlement from a Verizon class action lawsuit ($14.81!). I just need to confirm that the email is legit and the links are valid before I click on anything.

Anyone else get money from the Verizon Administrative Charge Settlement? What’s the best way to verify that it’s legit? FYI, I did in fact file a claim so I suspect it’s legit.

I just got $11.55! It was directly transferred to my Venmo account.

I just signed up for one. Apparently a company I own stock in misrepresented some of their data. I only own a couple of shares on my Robinhood play account so I don’t expect much. I’m sure the major stockholders will get a lot.

Now you can buy a Venti with your Venmo!

Veni vidi vegi.

IOW, he can afford a small snack bag of carrot stick snacks.

I also recently got $14.81 from the Verizon class-action lawsuit settlement. I gave them my cell phone number when I filed a claim (which is linked to Zelle), and the money was deposited automatically in my checking account via Zelle.

I’m also pleasantly surprised I got any money at all, since I actually missed the deadline by an hour. My claim was timestamped at ~1:00 a.m. EDT on 4/16/2024. (The deadline was 4/15/2024.) I thought they might allow it since it was still the previous day in the western time zones, and apparently they did.

I can’t remember how much the settlement was supposed to be for, but $14.81 seems like a pittance. I guess a lot of people made claims.

I have used Zelle at some point but either I didn’t give them my phone number or it’s not connected to my number. I’ll follow up on it tonight and go splurge on something, like a sandwich.

On a related note, I got a statement from a local credit union where I’d had some high-interest CDs at one time. The savings account I had to open, and had been dormant for a while, was sent to the state’s unclaimed money account, so I went to the website, gave them the needed information, and I’ll get a check for $21 in a week or two.
