Class Action Lawsuit - got paid!

Was it from Blue Cross Blue Shield? I just got a check from them for $8.25 and I haven’t had BCBS insurance for quite a few years now.

Yes, it was.

Tangential to Class Action Lawsuits, I have found several small and medium piles of money at https://missingmoney.com/ - the official unclaimed money website of the state treasurers. My family name is essentially unique so I’ve helped many relatives find some extra cash.

For folks with more common names it requires a bit more legwork.

I also just got $38.12 from the BCBS settlement.

I just got $49C for the bread settlement.

I got $112 and just deposited the check a couple hours ago.

A few hundred bucks once, but I have no idea of the context.

Yep, I got $43 bucks last week for the BCBS settlement. Still waiting on my chicken settlement money … I’m on tenterhooks!

Not a class action, but I found some unclaimed property in my dad’s name and claimed it for him. Turns out it was 125 shares of a stock worth $0.001 each. About 13¢.

My BCBS money was $130. Better than folks reporting here (guess I got cheated more, yay?) but a far cry from the average $330 payment number I saw bandied around. Good thing I didn’t quit my job.

Oh, I never heard any sort of number, so I wasn’t expecting any particular amount. Also, I have absolutely no memory of this lawsuit, so it was a completely unexpected extra $43 for the taking. I don’t know what time period it covered, but we haven’t always been BCBS over the last decade or two, so I assume that’s why the lower payment.

I just got $8.12 from a Yahoo data breech.

I recently received an email for settlement with LabCorp on a data breach. I’ve presumably used them at some point, so I clicked through. Unfortunately, the email included a claim code, which when entered prefills Chastity G ****** until uneditable fields. Oh, well. Feel bad for Chastity, but I’m certain there is no way to tell the lawyers they’ve crossed my email with her name.

Seems you’re not alone, assuming this is the same case

Look at the comments. At least the first few are people with the same problem as you.

Thanks - sounds like it may be a scam, in which case I may be getting a lot more ‘opportunities’ assuming they’ve correctly linked my email to the number they gave me.

Yeah. reading further down the whole thing now is a scam. They’re using a legit but long-since closed-out case as bait. It Googles as good, but it’s still a scam.

Clever bastards.

Just got an email today about the Illinois Facebook settlement from a couple years back saying there would be a second round of dispersals. They find more money at the bottom of the bag? Anyway, presumably it won’t be another $400 and this is the first I’ve heard of it.

Your initial payment in the In re: Facebook, Inc. Consumer Privacy User Profile Litigation was successful. A second distribution of settlement benefits will commence in June, and payments will be sent in batches over the following 4 weeks. You will receive an additional email notice approximately 3-4 days before your additional settlement payment is issued. Please continue to check your email during this time period.

Edit:

Guess this was from a DIFFERENT lawsuit than the Illinois biometric one. And this second round will be scraping the bottom of the bag. From USA Today:

According to court filings, the settlement administrator estimates that more than 15 million people will receive a second payment. After taking administrative costs out of the remaining $100 million pot, there will be about $95 million left for the bonus payments.

The total amount each eligible claimant will get in the second bonus payment will vary based on what filings call “allocation points,” but the administrator estimates they will range from $4.67 to $7.32 each.

I was just coming to post about that. I just got an email saying I should expect my payment in the next 3-4 business days.

Don’t spend it just yet - I got my e-credit for that one - a whole $6.46. The first round was much better, like $35 - enough to buy some bicycling knick-naks online. What am I supposed to do with 6 bucks?

Buy half a Starbucks frou frou coffee. What else?
