Classic Opera Playlist

OK - I want to make a small playlist of Opera. I am not looking to stretch too much (not having ANY opera right now). I am thinking the trite, well known songs that you see on TV, in commercials, on Bugs Bunny, etc. I just want something fun.

Like Nick Cage in The Family Man:

“La donna è mobile”
from opera “Rigoletto”
Written by Giuseppe Verdi
Performed by Luciano Pavarotti and The London Symphony Orchestra
Conducted by Richard Bonynge
Courtesy of Decca Music Group/Universal International Music, B.V.
Under license from Universal Music Enterprises

So what do you I need in a 10 song set?

les miserables and miss saigon are both pure operas (no talkies whatsoever.) but sorry, you’re looking for classical. aside from “the woman is fickle,” and “the clown,” the only others i know are “nessun dorma”, numbers from m. butterfly and this lady’s piece in “las tosca” (can’t remember the title.)

Well, for cartoons, there is the Overture to the Barber of Seville by Rossini.

And for TV ads, there is “The Flower Duet” from Lakmé (familiar part starts at 1:20)

Any of the Rossini overtures: The Barber of Seville, La Gazza Ladra, and, of course, William Tell.

Get the Three Tenors at amazon.
Personally I think you’ll need Enrico Caruso doing Vesti La Giubba from Pagliacci.
Do you want female opera singers?
