What was that classic story where the child is executed for scoring too high an IQ? I believe I read it in 1980 or 81, but it was in a Jr High School reading book, so it must have been considerably older.
In the story, IIRC, all children are IQ tested at a certain age, and you discover in the end that the kids who score too high are executed.

Not quite the same, but it sounds a bit like Harrison Bergeron by Vonnegut
That’s not it, but I remember the story Revtim is talking about. For some reason Asimov comes to mind, but I’m not sure about that. Let me check…
