Is it that you find the Blackhawks’ logo to also be a disrespectful/grotesque cartoon caricature, or is it that you find Chief Wahoo to be a realistic depiction of a Native American face?
I think he was comparing the Redskin logo to the Blackhawk logo. Not to Chief Wahoo.
That’s it. The two logos are very similar.
I’d love to see the Washington Warriors with their logo the same.
I guess it’s not totally on topic, but I’m surprised no one else has linked http://www.shelflifeclothing.com/shirtpages/caucasians.html yet.
Eh, that’s the sort of thing that people post trying to make a point about how it would be offensive, and people reply “I’m a white guy and I think that’s hilarious! Native Americans should lighten up!”
Being a Pirates fan who hates Cleveland, butthurt Indians fans make me laugh all the more.
For the Blackhawks, that would actually be very easy to solve – just change the logo to an actual hawk. (Technically, they weren’t directly named for Blackhawk, but for the original owner’s military regiment from WWI)
A First Nations artist came up with a really badass logo, too.
Completely aside from the question of cultural sensitivity, that is certainly an awesome logo.
Agreed, I’d buy clothing with that logo.
I always preferred the 60s “spear” helmets.
