Okay, I was just fighting with my girlfriend about something she did behind my back. That’s not the subject, but I began thinking: if something is “behind your back,” wouldn’t it be in front of your face? I mean, your back doesn’t face in front of you, it faces behind you. So if something was behind your back, would it therefore not be right in front of your face? Hmmm…
I see what you’re trying to say, but no; does ‘behind your face’ or ‘in front of your back’ mean anything?
(I’m reminded of an airport toilet sign on engrish.com that says ‘go backward toward your behind’
No. Your face is in front of your back. So in front of your face is in front of your back.
Your back does not ‘face’ anywhere on it’s own. If we were to give it a front and a back, they would be the same as the rest of your body. So behind your back is further behind your face than your back and certainly not in front of it.
Clear?
Agreed; the concepts ‘behind’ and ‘in front’ are relative to the individual, not the organ.
Okay, your back’s behind you.
Enquiring minds want to know: WHAT DID SHE DO?
I remember getting into a huge argument about which side of the rear-view mirror of a car is the front, and which is the back.
