I’m enjoying part of my day off from work by listening to *Love and Theft * for the first time in a year or so. I read Clinton Heylin’s Dylan biog Behind the Shades: Take Two a little while back, and was wondering if he has been quoted anywhere on his reaction to L&T. A Google search didn’t throw anything up, and links to his homepage I found were all dead.
If you’ve read the book, you’ll know that Heylin takes a dim view of Dylan’s late 90’s success, and is scathing on the subjects of *World Gone Wrong * and Time Out of Mind. L&T is so different from either of those, but for Heylin to give his blessings to it, would he need to revisit a theory that seems close to his heart?
I have come to believe there is a co-relationship between the artist and his chosen medium that works against maintaining an artist’s urge for innovation…
So for any Doper Dylanologists out there:

[li]Have you heard any reaction from Heylin on L&T?[/li][li]In your opinion, is Dylan the songwriter and recording artist still worth listening to?[/li][li](for everyone, Dylanophile or not) Is there a correlation between an artist’s age and their ability to break new ground?[/li][/ol]
