Clinton Slips Leash; Jennings Critical

Yeah, gay men have a marked antipathy for Bush.

You guys won’t believe this one…

One of the guys who owns my firm told me last week, “Nixon? He was a damn liberal and not a real Republican at all. If he’d had any real convictions he’d never have allowed them to drag him down.”

Believe it or not, Thomas Jefferson was a liberal. Can you imagine that? A liberal who valued liberty?

I just don’t get this, no matter how I try. The first part, that is; the second is clear as glass. How come so many people look at Captain Smirk and feel like going out for a beer with the guy? What the fuck do you see in him?

And funny.

Anyway, Roseworm, aside from your obvious delight in pissing off a bunch of strangers who you’ve decided should be punished for not sharing your political views, what DO you get out of being a member of this board, anyway?

Maybe I’m being wooshed here, but the “Nixon as the last liberal president” idea is pretty common.

My impression is that he was sort of like Clinton, he wanted to be president and get stuff done and wasn’t too hung up on his own ideology, so faced with liberal congress, he rolled with it and helped them pass a lot of liberal legislation.

Everybody knows that I am NO friend of Bill Clinton…far from it! But please explain to me (and don’t spare the rotten tomatoes) why Bill can never let his guard down and just level with you? I mean, he’s out ofoffice, basking in public approval. and free of that insufferable hag…and he still can’t tell you the truth! I mean, sytements like":
“the American people should realize that I never said anything that would disgrace the office of president of the USA”-or some such blather!
Come on Bill, just tell the truth! Quit debating the meaning of “is”!
I’d appreciate if Bill would say something like this:
"oh, those presidential pardons, I meant to remove any hint of politics from it. But I made a big mistake when I pardoned Marc Rich, and I will always regret making that mistake?
Ain’t gonna happen!

ralph, why so you insist on being such a cuntbag?

You know, Peter Jennings is my favourite news anchor but I just loved how he was sucking air after Clinton tore a strip out of him. Clinton was right of course. The establishment media frenzy over Clintons sex life is one of the most shameful periods in the history of the American fourth estate .

Republicans :wally

They *do * love to do that, now don’t they? It will be interesting to see how they handle the next 4 years when they really can blame the previous administration for all their problems. Oh, I forgot…they’ll just have to reach further back to er…explain themselves.

Wanna discuss GHWB pardoning all who were convicted for Iran-Contra? Wanna try and tell me that wasn’t political?

Is there a transcript available so I can read what was actually said instead of watching everyone trot out their talking points?

I leave it as an exercise for the reader to decide whether illegally selling weapons to Iran constituted “adhering to their Enemies, giving them Aid and Comfort.” Personally I have no problem labeling Reagan a traitor based on the constitutional definition.

Are you saying that balancing the world’s largest budget and understanding how to use your country’s super-power status wisely actually trumps keeping your fly zipped?

Would you consider moving here in time for the 2008 election? We need your help!

That’s always been my impression, even to the comparison with Clinton: both wouldn’t pass up a chance to take credit for a good idea if it came from a yellow dog. This usually results in a lot of good things being done, even if the president is still a glory-hog.

To **Gamaliel ** and roger thornhill:

Here is the transcript:

Yes, it is a Newsmax cite (horrors!) and, yes, they are wringing their hands with glee over the whole episode. But the transcript is accurate.

The point is, you really have to watch the video to catch the full impact. Bill turns surly and snarly - not warm and fuzzy at all. He is as mean as a junkyard dog (which is what he really is at heart).

The episode is, beyond all argument, a rare glimpse of the puny, twisted soul of the real Bill Clinton.

Oh c’mon, let’s keep going -

Johnson was a mean old cuss who used his wife’s money to secure power.

Kennedy was a pill popper and womanizer who had shady dealings with the mob and botched his first run at Cuba.

Eisenhower was asleep at the switch while we murdered the leader of Iran, swept out the moderates and set us down the path of years of trouble with Islam.

Truman was guilty of war crimes for using nuclear weapons on innocent civilians.

Roosevelt was a power hungry socialist.

Hoover’s laissez faire approach almost destroyed our country.

You mean…
Clinton was pissed that a bunch of puritanical pukes were assholes?
And he’s further sullied becuase he voices his displeasure?
The audacity! Tar and feathers, tar and feathers!

How on earth Clinton, who did-well-by-the-county would be ‘ranked’ so low on a moral scale is mindblowing. Because he got a blowjob? (I could see him being ranked that low if he cherrypicked intel and engaged in blatant cronyism…)

For all we know, he and his wife have an open relationship but have to cover it up for political purposes. Can we please keep ourselves out of other people’s bedrooms? Please?

Again, though, which bit was it that ticked you off?

I read the transcript- hardly a cordial exchange, but then Jennings was asking questions that would have pissed me off too.
