This is of course about getting out of speeding tickets and stuff like that. Not really appropriate if you killed someone and got away with it. Although if you have and you want to tell me about it I guess that’s ok as it may help to put you in jail. Maybe.
Anyway I was driving home from playing basketball one day many, many years ago. It was the first sunny day after a few days of heavy rains. The ground was really wet, but our favorite outdoor court was dry. We played for about 3 hours and afterwards I headed to my favorite Burger King, because at the time they sold 39 cent hamburgers. Well I would usually eat six of them on the way home, shower, and eat dinner with the family. I had a great life and metabolism in those days. On the way home I was chowing down on the highway and probably going about 85 in a 55 zone. A state trooper comes in the other direction. I see him, but I figured he wouldn’t crossover to come get me so I kept enjoying my 39 cent burger and kept blatantly speeding (stupid kid, I admit it). Well I see him look over at me and he turns his lights on. I nearly crapped my pants as I knew my parents were going to kill me for this one.
As luck would have it the rain saved my behind. As the trooper pulled his car into the median he got stuck in all the mud that had accumulated due to the heavy rain. He couldn’t move. Watching this through my rearview mirror I decided this was my lucky day and got home as fast as possible (rather than slowing down, as I said stupid kid). As soon as I got home I got out of my car and took my Mom’s car out. I drove it back to the highway where I saw another officer trying to pull the trooper out of the grass/mud median. I was right, he got stuck and I didn’t get a ticket. I was a lucky bastard that day on so many levels.
I’m not 100% he was actually coming after me because he got stuck. He may have been responding to an emergency call or crime or something. I don’t know for sure but either way I had a good story to tell the next day in school and well apparently on this board as well.
The stupid things we did as kids thread is doing so well. I hope this one does the same. If you have any interesting stories like this (at least I’m assuming that it was an interesting story) let’s have them. Hopefully this will become very interesting.
