I’m not an MPSIMS mod, so I don’t know. But I’m saying that if there hadn’t been reports by the time the thread was closed, there were going to be.
Colibri doesn’t mod MPSIMS. In general we let the mods handle their own forums.

Actually, I only posted to alert people to the fact that it was old. I would have closed it myself except it wasn’t my forum, so I reported it instead for closure by an MPSIMS mod.
The thread title and the OP were misleading. As Marley says, it was either a mistake, or a very opaque and not very funny joke. If the OP did it deliberately, he should have made it clear.
We’re aware that some people feel that we should have absolutely no standards for how stupid and pointless a thread can be. However, I doubt that view is shared by a majority of posters, and is certainly not shared by the staff.
How did I know that was going to be a twixter closing before I even clicked on it.
And Marley, your posts and justifications in this thread are silly, imo.
Well, RIP Jerry Lewis then.
Because she mods MPSIMS and MPSIMS is the forum where people get upset about closings of silly threads. Periodically people will get shocked that a pointless thread was closed in MPSIMS. It’s been happening since before I was a mod there.
Joke or mistake, nothing either enlightening or amusing was going on in that thread. I closed it to prevent an entire thread of “dude, he died ten years ago” posts, and to prevent a spate of post reports to the MPSIMS mods (yes, we’d gotten more than one report on it).
If anyone wants to discuss Brando, or the fact that he died ten years ago, feel free to start a thread – preferably in the correct forum (Cafe Society) – with an OP stating the premise for the thread.
So far, nobody’s said what great, dreadful harm would be caused by a thread full of " dude, he died ten years ago" posts. Presumably someone might have started riffing on them and we get a funny thread–it’s happened before, but that was before mods started random thread closures.
And even if it didn’t go anywhere…what harm is caused? Yes…I’m a mod on another board and pushing the buttons in the sooper-sekrit mod panel is fun…but that’s not reason enough to close a thread.
Nobody’s going to. We don’t have to demonstrate “great, dreadful harm” to close a thread.
Then why not leave it open?
Well, the standard you just made up in your last post is irrelevant to the actual rules. You can check my link in post #25 if you want to know how and why MPSIMS threads get closed. The thread was either started in error or as a joke nobody got. In either case it was pointless.
There’s a reason this message board is the best one on the internet, IMO. Just as a a great magazine editor makes a magazine interesting to read, a great moderator team makes a message board interesting to read. One way to to that is to weed out the junk. This thread was junk.
You are right.
You are wrong. I thought twickster made the right call. I don’t have a problem with it.
I’m having a hard time coming up with an argument for keeping this thread open. Shut 'er down!
But was it mundane?
I suppose everyone has heard the news about Sam Kinison.
He stopped screaming?
Have you heard the news about Generalissimo Francisco Franco?
*Still!!??
*
Nah, the thread closing was stupid. The thread was stupid too, sure, but if that’s a criterion for closing threads, let’s just lock up MPSIMS right now and be done with it.
*Are you guys just going to leave us hanging?
*
The answers will be posted in this thread…eventually.
