And while I’m addressing a few things, aldiboronti, I think the main reason you were on the Republitrolls list is that you don’t understand the difference between American conservatism and British conservatism, which is followed closely by most people here not understanding the same in reverse. I believe if we could bring those two together, we would co-exist more peacefully. The two forms are not identical. I think you often raise interesting questions, but at the same time have a tendency to rush in with a “but Conservative = right” viewpoint that does not always meet facts on the ground here.
In general, I think we (the generic we) will work this out and you round things out nicely. It is good to get other view points.

Amidst all this hand-wringing about racial and ethnic slurs I find it funny that many of these same people who defend right-language don’t think twice about using “tard” to denigrate someone - Big Tard for instance - and no one leaps up to point out that is a slur against the mentally handicapped and specifically those with Downs’ Syndrome.
So is the consensus here that it is okay to dehumanize the afflicted and use a pejorative label once applied to them as a tossed-around insult because there is no racial component (“Retards come in all colours hyuk”) or is it that those who have intellectual challenges are acceptable targets and metaphors for scorn inherent unto themselves?
Or can we expect to see a similar tongue-lashing delivered upon the utterance of “tard” and its kin in the future?
I think “tard” is also a slur, and such usage deserves harsh criticism.
So please show me where you have passionately criticized a fellow poster for its use.
I don’t know if I have – if I haven’t, then that’s a flaw in my perception that I should work on and improve (racial slurs likely stand out much more strongly to me than anti-mentally-disabled slurs). I will strive to do better, as I always do.

As a poster with long-time status, it’s likely to take three or four warnings in, say, six months or so to get them to pull the trigger, unless he tells a mod directly to go fuck themselves, or something similar.
