cmkeller, Esprix, Smeghead: Attendez-vous!

Fiver, I’m sorry I didn’t see and respond to this thread sooner. I seldom browse the Pit. But I will now address your concern:

My sig was selected not for the sake of amusement, but because I found those Dirk Gently quotes to be (whether Douglas Adams intended them as such or not) a profound statement on the nature of religious belief, which, quite frankly, accounts for a good portion of my posts on this message board. Especially as applied to the matter of evolution, I see this quote as saying that just because something could have happened in a wildly improbable manner does not mean that that must be how it had happened. Rather, it might have involved additional factors which remain unknown, or at least unverifiable, but which would, if the postulated factor were true, make much more sense than the wildly improbable manner in question.

Perhaps no one reading this message board has ever pondered the quote I have as my sig, and it is merely a waste of bandwidth.

But I’ll leave it until another line strikes me as equally or more meaningful, and apologize if it annoys you.

I do make a point of obeying the once-per-thread rule.

Out of deference to your sensibilities, I shall not place my sig on this post.

Chaim Mattis Keller

I don’t usually append a sig, but I was thinking of changing mine to “Evidently, I grok.”

This is so funny to me that I snigger every time I think about it. But then I thought that might be too direct an homage. . . Not like Esprix and I have ever really come to loggerheads, but neither do I find myself in a lot of conversations with him. (Shuffles shyly.)

Anyway, if I added a sig I’d have to remember to use it.

This is as stupid as the two word pit, err, two pitz post, uhhhh two post pith, whatever.

I was going to make my sig “Mund Freuden,” but then I realized that it had the potential to make tongues wag. (How’s that for parapraxis?)

I never append my sig anyway, since it’s clearly too erudite for you yobboes.

Actually, now I want to change it to:
“I was going to make my sig “Mund Freuden,” but then I realized that it had the potential to make tongues wag. (How’s that for parapraxis?)”,
but then my last message won’t make any sense. Damn.
[sup]A fart in the general direction of anyone tempted to point out that it doesn’t make much sense anyway.[/sup]

I change my sig every 100-200 posts.
I do it for the fans.
This one I created from a book I’m reading now.

Why am I posting this? just because I like to see my name in every single thread in existence. For I have nothing to contribute constructively. Oh wait. I kinda do. I spoofed Esprix’s thread awhile back. Oh how droll of me.

Great, now SPOOFE is gonna show up in this thread because I used his name. I hope you’re all happy.

Well, I think it’s time to bring back an oldie but a goodie.

In honor of this thread being resurrected, I present a new sig line.

I would neve change my sig.

Oh, pooey.

Had my sig from day one and I don’t really want to change it either.

Don’t use it all the time. If I do remember to tick the box I only use it once per thread.

My sig will never change. It is a memorial to a great scientist, and my mentor. He was killed at a picnic on April 1st 1410. Though his time machine was a great success, his attempt to create a fat-free cake went horribly wrong.

Yo, Fiver.

Happy?

Esprix
