CNN not reporting Saddam interview

As far as i’m aware from the coverage the film interview is available free to all, provided they air it in its entirety. watched it last night. It was interesting to hear what Saddam had to say but the questions were not very pressing (I got the strong impression that Benn, the interviewer, realised that too pointed a set of questions would just ensure a walk-out, but even so they were weak).

To be honest, though highly unusual and unprecedented, it wasn’t really worth watching. Saddam gave the answers you’d expect, and Benn didn’t ask the hard questions (probably worried he’d get garotted if he did).

Just another shout out: it wasn’t the BBC, it was Channel 4. And it wasn’t a professional interviewer, it was the wonderful but silly ex politician Tony Benn, former Lord (he gave up his title on principle) and unreconstructed pinko.

I assume Saddam said some rational things, and it’s against the way things are to present him any other way than Random Crazy Evil Man.

You may have a point - he came over as a rational being, though clearly lying through his teeth about a lot of things.

It appears, from a radio advertisement, that the interview will air on 60 Minutes II, this sunday. That’s a CBS station. I do not know if CNN has license to use it.
