Co-author credits for an indie book: is this a terrible idea?

Just chiming in as a reader. It would irritate me a little bit to see the book with both a different cover and different author order, if only because I’d have to look a lot more closely than should be necessary at each book to make sure they were the same thing.

Will the blurbs for each version be the same?

Thanks, grayhairedmomma! Very good to hear more input, even if it’s not what I’d hoped to hear. Yes, the blurbs will be the same, as will the ISBNs, so on sites such as (say) Goodreads, they’ll indicate that these are the same novels just a different edition. Here’s an example, for Nora Roberts’ Divine Evil. In addition to including the librarian’s note that it’s an alternate edition, if you scroll down you see that there’s a list of other editions with cover images.
