Ever since I heard of chipping pets, I figured it was only a matter of time. But I don’t see mention of GPS in either of the articles. It looks like someone has to wave a scanner over these chips to trigger a ‘shout’ of an ID number, which is then picked up by the scanner and used to reference an external database. I don’t see that the chip by itself is finding its own location in any way, or that it can be accessed from a great distance.
IMHO, it’s not bad as long as the person chipped can review his/her information.
