Well, my question about how addictive heroin really is seems to be generating a lively and healthy discussion (which I’m sure is what we all like to see threads do), so I figured that the next thing to do would be post a thread about what is arguably the second most-demonized illicit drug out there: cocaine. Again, just how addictive is this substance (and how can it screw up your life if you let a fondness for it get out of control)? I won’t regurgiate any hackneyed claims about the drug in question to get the discussion started this time, save perhaps repeat what seems to be the general consensus concerning the relative degrees of addictiveness of the various types of cocaine and its precursor ie coca (the actual plant, apparently still used in many parts of South America) is less bad news than powder cocaine (ie the snorted stuff) which, in turn, is less bad news than crack.
A friend of mine smoked crack once. He said the hardest thing in the world was, after the high was over, avoiding the overpowering urge to try it again. Somebody said crack makes you feel like a new man, and the first thing the new man wants is more crack.
Dunno if it’s a physical or a mental addiction but it sure seems to hit hard and fast, right on the first try.
Don’t know about crack, but in my silly youth I tried the sniffing kind of coke 2 times.
First time I tried it, nothing happened, I didn’t feel any different and all it did was make my front teeth feel funny. Second time I tried it was at the insistance of my then BF who insisted the stuff at the party was realyl cut and he had good coke. So I tried it again, and the only difference this time was my front teeth got realyl numb. I decided that if I were to blow $150US on anything, it would be dental work where at least I would get a filling or shiny smile out of the whole deal…Ran into my exboyfriend a few years later, he was still doing coke, still immature and still spending most of his spare money on his nose…He probably could have bought a house in a great neighborhood and fully furnished it for what he put up his nose. I would rather have the house and goodies than the coke any day=)
…but I get a kick out of Dew.
From my singular experience with cocaine (about 10 years ago), I can tell how people get hooked on it. The stuff made me feel like I was having the best f*cking day of my life. I felt absolutely invinsible and able to conquer the world. Instead of going out and doing just that, I shot my best game of darts and got all intellectual with my friends. I did get extremely horny after a while, but at the time I wasn’t involved with anyone, dammit.
After the coke was gone, I felt like I could do some more if there were any. But, I never persued it after that night, thank Og. I considered it a one-time thing and was thankful that I didn’t know anyone who could get it whenever I wanted it. Killer feeling, though.
