Cockroaches on the top floor?

Killing Cockroaches

Ok. I live on the top floor of an apartment building. My cleaning habits aren’t that great…I accidently leave food out for days at a time, etc. The strange thing is: since I’ve lived here, I’ve seen no cockroaches. Do roaches not come up to the top floor, or am I just extremely lucky?

Let me guess - your apartment is in Chernobyl. Did you notice a lot of people moving out in 1986?

You’re either extremely lucky or the people living in the units below you are very clean people who don’t have roaches.

Roaches can be found anywhere there’s food, and they can and will infest the top floor of an apartment. I’ve done roach services on the upper floors in Co-Op City in the Bronx. They will get up there.

This is because roaches are notorious hitch-hikers. They are brought into a new environment via handbags, briefcases, grocery items (not just produce, but boxes as well), even the cuff of someone’s pants.

The fact that you don’t have any in your apartment means that you’re hanging out in all the right places. But do yourself a favor and clean the place up. What if the President decided to drop by or something?
