I don’t read the chart as saying cognitive biases have a direction It’s just that they tried to roughly categorize them. Categorization can help our brains handle larger ideas. It’s why we like hierarchies. They don’t have to be perfect.
Reading the zoomed in version, it appears that they used a list of the cognitive biases that have Wikipedia articles. It appears they were just trying to add some extra structure to the Wikipedia article.
I was going to say the same thing. There’s no direction, they’ve just grouped related biases into categories and subcategories. It looks nice, but it’s way too big for my tiny laptop screen.
