O.k., I’m not jumping on the conspiracy bandwagon here but I do find this to be a surprising coincidence.
Nothing unusuall really - just par for the course in Georgia. It is a bit surprising that the power loss happened in the summer - in winter is is quite common to have just a few hours a day. One week in January this year we (along with the entire country) had no natural gas - got quite cold… maybe 5C in the flat… much of the time no electricity or water either.
You don’t have to read too far into the story to read this:
“Periodic blackouts are common here - and rolling blackouts are regularly implemented to conserve power - but it was the first time in two years that the whole country was affected at once.”
Unless ConEd is providing power to Georgia, I think you’ll have to look elsewhere for surprising coincidences.
Fair enough, but in light of this story, you just never know.
To be honest, I seriously doubt that they had anything to do with the blackout. On the other hand I do not doubt that our electrical transmission system is very vulnerable to such an attack. For all we know, this was a “proof of concept” experiment and if so, we could expect to see many such situations developing in other areas. Personally, I am not going to rule any possibilities out until we see if there are similar events elsewhere. It’s the sort of thing that only time will tell.
