i have been making my own cold brew coffee for a while now the problem i have been getting is when i add cream to my iced cold brew coffee i get a sour taste or like a spoiled taste can anyone tell me how to avoid this if i need to post step by step of what i do i can
Have you tasted your cream (or tried more than one container of it). If it’s been fine for a while and now it’s not, I’d make sure the cream is still good.
I would like to think that the poster has allready confirmed he has fresh cream. My guess would be that the acids in the cold coffee are reacting with the cream in a similar way that lemon juice does. I believe when it is hot the fat dispurses itself better.
People use cream in cold brew coffee all the time, if this was an issue it would be pretty well known by know. Also, it’s my understanding that one of the reasons a lot of people like cold brewed coffee is because it has less acid in it since the cold water doesn’t draw as much of it out of the beans as hot water does.
it may just be this particular coffee brand i am using its almost gone maybe using a differnt brand will give different taste i do know i didn’t get that with dunkin donuts dark roast
I don’t see how coffee+cream would give you a sour taste that wasn’t present in either the coffee or the cream independently. I sometimes do cold-brewed coffee and have definitely not noticed this myself.
Cream going bad is really the only thing that I can think of here.
