Cold Hands

Hello, I have a medical question I was wondering if any of you might be able to answer,

I suffer from extremely cold hands, whenever I am in a less than warm room my body is able to heat all parts of my body very well except for my hands, which are almost always (in these cases) very cold, frigid, and lacking in high dextrous mobility due to semi-numbness, and slightly bluish/purplish in color, what would be the cause of this? and is there any nonsurgical way to cure it?

THis can be the case even if the rest of my body is warm, under good central heating, and almost sweating.

I sometimes wear gloves to comfortmy hands, but wearing mittens inside can be rather embarassing if you know what I mean. And I was hoping that there was a way to permanently help my hands.

poor circulation.

all of my mom’s family has cold hands, but not as badly as you described it. my feet have been turning pruple lately though.

Raynaud’s Syndrome

I used to have a real problem with cold hands and cold feet. Even in the summer my feet might stay cold all day.
Then I started exercising, riding a bike and walking. My circulation improved and I no longer have this problem.
YMMV of course

Yes, definitely sounds like Raynaud´s. Go to a doctor and have it checked.

As for the treatment:
I achieved very good results with biofeedback-therapy. It was a clinical trial, so I don´t know how widely it is actually used as a therapy for Raynaud´s, but it really worked for me - I can now warm my hands in a matter of minutes, but that´s hardly ever necessary anymore. I can tell you more about it if you are interested.

In the meantime, try to get some heatpacks - no idea what they are called, but you can probably get them at outdoor/camping stores. You can put them inside your gloves or shoes and they keep you warm for several hours - great when you´re outside!

Another possibility, plucked from today’s news (Ozzy Osbourne had an accident and had to have surgery as his collarbone was compressing an artery)

One of the ways my body tells me it’s time to head over to the chiropractor for some adjusting is my hands go cold. I didn’t take a tumble in a dune buggy, but I suspect the basic cause is the same.
