College Alcohol Consumption and Partying Concerns

Mate, asking how you have time to study in among all that drinking and partying is a valid question. “You and me are wired differently” isn’t a particularly comprehensive answer when there’s seriously the question of how you’re functioning without being legally drunk most of the time.

It’s generally considered poor form to just post a link to a random YouTube video here.

And my question remains: With that level of alcohol consumption, how would you ever legally be considered sober? You’d pretty much be risking a DUI every time you went anywhere near a car.

Well, I think we can safely remove the “stealth” from his bragging.

You are engaged in really stupid, self destructive behavior. Go at it, man. Your body to do with what you want. Besides, I’m sure you’ll be able to moderate/stop should you ever wish to.

(And - no - I don’t believe that 15 of you drank 50 cases + several 1.5 over 3 days - at the end of which you were posting here. And I don’t believe this guy kept up a pace of a beer/drink every 10 minutes for any extended period. You will undoubtedly say I’m wrong, but I call bullshit.)

I don’t think that is correct? Most of the data I’ve seen shows a pretty good correlation between average consumption and heavy drinking episodes (that’s to say, countries with higher levels of average consumption, mostly in Europe, tend to have more “binge drinking” and same for states within the US, I.e. Northern states as opposed to southern ones). I’m not sure which speciefic countries you are thinking of though.

Maybe the discrepancy between your list and mine is because the WHO data reports average consumption and yours reports the median, which I’d expect to be much lower.

This. RealTalk, you’re too drunk to count, or you’re doing what most college males do any exaggerating your drinking prowess (either consciously or subconsciously). Ozzy Osbourne didn’t drink that much on a regular basis.

Correction. A couple of the more absurd behaviors I experienced were when a buddy and I intended to drink a beer per round for the Benitez/Leonard fight. We had to stop around round 10-12 (it went 15. And Benitez was robbed! :D)

A campus bar had a contest, a beer per 10 minutes for 24 hrs. IIRC, it ran from 4-midnight on Friday, and resumed from 8-midnight the following day. I did not participate, but a friend did. Not one of the participants was able to meaningfully function by the end. We physically carried our friend home.

So I have a little experience with irresponsible drinking, and still call BS. But, for some stupid reason, I’m still posting in this thread… :smack:

I like the “shot of beer over 60 seconds for an hour” challenge. Sounds easy, but most cannot do it.

Alright guys, this might relieve your disbeliefs.

Yeah, there were some weeks where it was 100 drinks a week and others were 180 drinks a week.

I dont really mind that people dont believe me because I understand the numbers are absurd. I know what Iv done and mentioned, and I am holding to that. Be stubborn and believe what you want.

There is a thing called tolerance and it increases the more you use. 8-10 beers in a couple of hours gets me tipsy, not blackout. Now 20-30 beers in 5 or so hours will make me pretty drunk, but not passout drunk.

Why is this hard to beleive? I have a lot of boredome and time on my hands.

Not here to argue with people to believe me, just a discussion on my past experience.

You were bored while you were in college?? You did it wrong. Or you’re full of crap. I tend to believe the latter.

Isn’t this the same as drinking 5 beers in an hour?

Sure, but there seems to be something about doing it as a shot a minute that increases efficiency of absorption…

Either that, or people do not realize that “a shot a minute” adds up.

Iv played that game and it is fun as hell. We call it Power Hour, or you can do it for 100 minutes and we call that Century Club.

One of my favorite drinking games is Black or Red. -Pass a cup around the group and each person has to ‘wager’ however much alcohol they want to put in the cup. Then that person either picks black or red, then draw the card and if you get the color right then you pass it on, if you guess wrong then you gotta chug. Gets pretty rough if players guess it correct after 4 or 5 times, especially if they wager an entire beer. Had a time where I had to chug 3 full solo cups, puked right after

Jesus, are you sure you’re not in high school? Drinking games? I thought people stopped doing that bullshit when they turned 13 or so. Here’s a drinking game for you, whenever you feel like taking a drink, take a fucking drink. Everybody’s a winner.

My oh my. You have lived a fast life, haven’t you?

I feel like “whenever you feel like taking a drink, take a fucking drink” is probably not the best rule for any of us to live by…

What you don’t realize is that this board tends to run into the older crowd and we have actual experience in life. There are a number of us who were actual alcoholics and really know exactly how much alcohol a body can or can’t take.

This doesn’t look like a serious question but simply trying to brag. As more people will call you on your BS, you will eventually admit to some of the excess statements while refusing to back down on others. This isn’t the first time this has happened.

It’s really more of a guideline than a rule, and I can’t recommend it for everyone, but it’s always worked for me.

It’s a code that I can live by.

There are even a few who still are, and they admit it. :frowning:

Whether the OP is telling the truth or not, it’s not something he should be bragging about. :dubious:
