I think that would be really fun. At least give it a go for a few seasons.
I think they could figure out a way to decide who moves up or down.

UCLA getting slapped by Indiana. I wouldn’t be surprised if they tried to get back in the Pac 12.
My Spartans at the top of the Big Ten standings. Next three weeks are at Boston College, home vs Ohio State, and at Oregon. What could go wrong?
Were I in charge of the Pac-12, I’d think long and hard about that. You might say I’m not real pleased about the two schools that started the Great Emigration.
Florida St. is 0-3. They’ll go 0-12 this year and make the playoffs.
Yeah, Don’s listed problems are fairly simple things that could be resolved if the will (but mostly money!) was there. Need I remind anyone that somehow UCLA is now in the B1G and Cal is in the ACC?
Maybe both of those programs would consider belonging to a two-tiered western regional league instead – and at least get to play conference games with each other and old foes Oregon State and Washington State.
Unlikely? Sure. But it would indeed be great fun to watch the promotion and relegation angst and being entertained is what’s most important to me.
BTW, kudos to our fantasy pro/rel member Washington State for their win over arch rival and defending national finalist Washington yesterday. In Seattle, too.
UCF with a stunning last minute win at TCU. The later will definitely be ranked by the end of the season and may wind up with the most efficient passing offense in the BCS or whatever it’s called now.
FSU looking like it has a five-month hangover from its playoff snubbing. Florida is awful so it’s too early to say that Miami is legit. UCF might be the best team in Florida again.
Arch Manning came in for an injured Ewers. He threw just 12 pass attempts, but gained 223 yards passing and 4 passing TDs on just those twelve alone. Also ran for a 67-yard touchdown.
Lots of people promptly teased Peyton and Eli Manning on social media to ask them why they could never run that fast.
Does Texas have a QB controversy?
Oh I doubt that.
Not as far as I can tell. The consensus of everyone seems to be that this is still Ewers’ year but Manning will take over in 2025 after Ewers has left for the NFL.
My Nebraska Cornhuskers are off to a pretty good start. First 3-0 start in forever and people are getting excited in Lincoln. Especially with our frosh QB Raiola, who appears to be living up to the hype. Quieting the Sanders was very satisfying. The schedule upgrades with ranked Illinois coming to town on Friday.
But I’ll be watching my “other team”: my daughter’s college Mizzou for her sorority dad’s day. It will be my first SEC game and am terribly excited to fly out and visit Anya.
And that’s the key.
In recent past seasons, Nebraska wasn’t good enough to beat their early-season non-conference tune-up teams, so this season is a demonstrable improvement. But it still doesn’t say anything about facing quality opponents, which the conference is lousy with.
James Madison beats North Carolina by a score of 70-50. How is there enough time to score that much???
I was curious, too, so I checked the scoring summary. There were two punts blocked and returned for scores (one by each team) and a pick six.
That still leaves almost 100 points scored by the offenses and that’s pretty amazing. And in testament to me rarely winning a modest bet on college football, the Dukes had put up a modest 13 points last week against Gardner-Webb.
That Miami-Virginia Tech was a refereeing screwup on multiple levels. The Hail Mary shouldn’t have been ruled a touchdown for VT in the first place, but once it was, there wasn’t incontrovertible evidence to overturn it, either.
How could it be ruled incomplete? Either it was complete or an interception I’d think. The only way it’s incomplete is if the defensive back takes it away, but is out of bounds I guess. But if he’s out of bounds is he allowed to take it away? Is it only offensive players who can’t participate once they go out of bounds?
FSU. FSU. FSU.
All hope built up last week is gone. Uigalelelei is still struggling with his throws and his snap timing, we apparently don’t have a receiver who can catch a ball two times running, the penalties are ridiculous, and the defense is a fucking sieve. I know we lost a lot of players from last year’s team, but come the fuck on. It’s like Norvell discovered pot during the off-season and has forgotten how to coach a damn football team.
Georgia went from being blown out by Alabama, 0-28, to actually coming back and taking a temporary 34-33 lead.
Trailing again now, though.
This is a biggie. Unreasonable logistics involved. It takes 4 months transition for POTUS.
