The interesting part about Snopes here is that they are willing to declare the notion that it was about the sombreros “false” based on nothing more than a vague statement by the college, which is probably in defensive mode after the backlash against them. (Even at that, the college’s statement that it’s not “really” about hats or drinks suggests that it actually is about hats and drinks, but that they’re interpreting the hats and drinks as having some deeper meaning that it’s “really” about - which is the standard PC MO. But hard to say since the college won’t clarify what it’s about.)
Agreed. It appears the college is attempting to reference vague “there was more” but at the same time saying they can’t reveal it right now. Seems to me that they are simply trying to wait the hubbub out so they can reveal that there really wasn’t much more.
