College towns around Las big as NY in terms of tech startups?

Rather than research all these areas, would you just tell me a few keywords about each of these college towns, if you’ve lived in them for more than 3 months?

Berkeley

Stanford

UCLA Area

UC-Irvine

Also tell me what you know about San Jose U and Santa Clara U areas, if there is much of anything to say.

What’s weird about this question is that NYC is not all that big as far as tech startups. I can imagine many places being bigger than NYC in terms of tech startups. NYC is more well known for entrepreneurship in food, fashion, and media categories.

Also, Berkeley is not in southern california. Its just outside San Francisco. Which, might have heard, has some repute in the tech startup arena.
