Haven’t found a whole lot of movies about the era.
Any suggestions?

Revolution had Al Pacino and Donald Sutherland, but I don’t recommend it. Blecch.
1776, on the other hand, is a great, fun movie.
As for books, I really liked Rise to Rebellion by Jeff Shaara. It starts with the Boston Massacre and ends shortly after the signing of the Declaration of Independence. Great characterization of the Founding Fathers, although some feel that they were a bit deified. There’s a sequel, The Glorious Cause, but I haven’t read that yet.
Well, movie-wise, there is:
*The Last of the Mohicans
Northwest Passage
Unconquered
Drums Along The Mohawk
The Patriot
1776
The Scarlet Letter * (not the Demi Moore travesty!)
Fiction-wise, try:
The Loyalist Son
The Private Revolution of Geoffrey Frost
