since Pennsylvania has more than double the population you could probably expect more tax money as well.
This. I’m on the exact same boat.
I’m not that math-challenged. I did calculate using our state’s population.
If we’re going to get into other benefits - looking forwards - decriminalising thousands of people (who would have been arrested and convicted) will make a huge difference to an awful lot of lives.
I think that’s the real biggie - isn’t it?
Wow, even conservative states are considering decriminalization of marijuana either for medical purposes or for outright recreational use. The issue is no longer partisan and cuts across political lines.
Additionally, the federal government has changed its stance and is now allowing banks to deal with marijuana businesses in those states that have legalized its recreational use.
I wouldn’t have expected such a rapid change in official opinions and policies just ten years ago, let alone a change generated within a state’s rights angle, and now it seems that marijuana will be legalized and or decriminalized throughout the country within ten years.
Money saved on policing, prosecution, and jail related costs could potentially be huge.
The Colorado vote was bi-partisan. The only demographic that voted against it were the 60 and older gang. Republicans and democrats both supported it.
Sadly, some LEOs in Colorado are doubling down by demanding MORE money for marijuana enforcement!
The people of the state say legalize it, stop being jerks about it. (Some) Police response? “The horror! The horror! We demand MORE MONEY to stop this evil scourge!”
Yeah, fuck right off there Barney…
