They said “cost per customer.”

Your calculation assumes that every single household subscribes to the service, but the article makes pretty clear that the take-up rate for FIOS is well below 100 percent.

They raised my cable bill by twenty bucks a month. Greedy scum. I’m dropping the premium cable channels and opting for Netflicks instead.

From what I’m hearing, the problem with rising video costs are due largely to the content providers–I saw a report recently that cable companies in general haven’t increased profit-per-customer in over a decade.

Competition, that’s the life blood of American free enterprise, its what made America great! However, now that America is great, we don’t need quite so much of it.

It’s worth noting that just because you have the same cable provide, that doesn’t mean you have the same converter box type or even the same UI. For example, in some places the Scientific Atlanta boxes and Motorola boxes have very different setups, so what works on one doesn’t necessarily work on the other.
