Comcast Digital Converter Boxes

I received three boxes from Comcast for my three TVs to interpret their all-digital broadcast. Two devices are DTAs (digital transmission adapters?), and one is a Motorola Model DCT700/US. The directions mention nothing about the latter. Instead, the directions say I must have a DTA or a Digitial Cable Box (which looks nothign like my Motorola Box).

First, why wouldn’t all 3 TVs connect to 3 of the same converter units, like DTAs? Second, does it matter which TV gets which device? And third, what is the Motorola box called, and is it the correct thing???

Thanks y’all!

The DTAs (Digital Terminal Adapters) are very basic converters. They allow connecting an analog TV to the Comcast digital network. I believe they support encrypted channels, but don’t support HD channels, have a program guide or have any other advanced features.

The Motorla DCT700 is a fairly basic digital set top box. It does support a program guide and Video On Demand (VOD). It is also only SD.

Put the DCT700 on the TV you use most often and the DTAs on the other two.

Why don’t you call Comcast and ask them?
