Just lately I’ve been noticing some songs that use the term ‘Boo’.
Just exactly what does it mean and where did it come from?
“When I’m with my Boo, I just think of you…”
My boo calls me this. Ask him where he got it from.
It’s a rap term - according to the Rap Dictionary,
Thank you!
There’s a Rap Dictionary???!!! Whatever next?
short for bootyful?
Here’s something to poison your rap enjoyment: everytime you hear “Boo,” picture the toddler from Monsters, Inc..
Bwahahahahahahahaha!
Maybe someone didn’t know how to pronounce beau.
Although long before rap was big I remember “Boo” used as a term of endearment. It was short for “Boo-boo bear”. I think he was Yogi’s “bottom”.
“Go for the eyes, Boo! GO FOR THE EYES!!! RUUUUUSSKKK!”

Chicken Boo, what’s the matter with you
You don’t look like the other chickens do
You wear a disguise to look like human guys
But you’re not a man, you’re a chicken Boo…

The other guy in all those songs is Truman Capote.
I thought Truman Capote was Dill, not Boo.
Back in 1971, the band Lobo had a big #5 U.S. hit with “Me and You and a Dog Named Boo”. Those were innocent times – we never suspected a thing.
tomndebb, not that guy, the other guy.
Sorry, I guess I wasn’t very clear about that.
Well, those miniature giant space hamsters are LETHAL when they’re aroused.
<squeak!>
That’s the first thing I thought of, too.
Butt kicking for goodness!

I just saw Monsters, Inc. Sully called the little girl “Boo” because that’s what she said to him. I think it’s a baby talk term that became a generalized term of endearment.
FWIW, I call my brother Billdo Boo all the time.
