Comic book names in real life?

Couple of football faves:

Kevin Boss
Lawyer Milloy

Not for anyone from San Francisco.

I worked with a Peter Parker. As this was a computer company, typing “Spiderman” in the Corporate Address Book would resolve to his email alias.

There’s also diminuitive actor Billy Barty.

Robert Redford

I used to work with a guy who’s last name was “Batman”.

I really had a hard time keeping a straight face his first day on the job when they were walking him around introducing him to everyone.

And on a somewhat related note, how about Bat Masterson?

Now if we could onlyt get him to do something on the origins of research, say in the 1920s…

And from that link Vince cable’s first wife was born with the wonderful name Olympia Rebelo That’s beautiful. It reminds me that writer Tim Power’s wife became, on marriage Serena Powers.

I was specifying because that link didn’t mention his appropriate-sounding title. No need to be a jerk about it.

I dunno. You could google it, it would only take just once. For 20 minutes. Just once. For 20 minutes. Not many people know that.

According to Jim Steranko, one of the names considered for the original Green Lantern was “Alan Ladd”, playing off the whole “Aladdin/magic lamp” theme but was rejected for being too obvious, replaced with “Alan Scott”.

What effect this might have had on real-life actor Alan Ladd remains forever unknown.

When Lawyer was on the Patriots with Ty Law, both cornerbacks, I nicknamed them “Law and Order.”

But the best football hero name is, of course, Mike Stonebreaker.

So you’re Thaal Sinestro.
What’s that mean to you, Green Lantern?
I’ve heard about you.
What have you heard, Green Lantern?
I’ve heard that you’re a low-down Yankee liar.
Prove it.

Add Harry Stonecipher to the list. And Bebe Rebozo.

I think he’s disqualified from this thread for actually having a comic book based on his life.

Or, at least, based on the television series that was based on his life.
