Comic Strips You Hate

Because I don’t want to have to explain racial politics to my 4 year old.

Dear criminy christ, why has nobody mentioned Curtis yet? The comic strip has been around since 88’ and the world Curtis lives in seems to be frozen in that very year! There is absolutely no change in stereotypes, fads, characters, or history. Just that same retarded patched up hat turned backwards all day everyday.

Out of town one Sunday, and saw this strip in the comics. Must have been late spring or early summer, because Rose (I presume) was in a bathing suit, bent over at the waist and drawn from behind.

First time the Sunday comics every gave me a stiffy!

I love that Kelly Clarkson’s name appears as part of the dread invocation.

Man, you need to get out more…

What’s wrong with a little sadomasochism and trans-species lust?

Then you need to acquaint yourself with Fritzi Ritz aka Autn Fritzi.

Ha - WOOOSH!

And I’ll second Just Some Guy’s nomination. As soon as I see a character with eyelids at half-mast, I know it’s a comic I can skip.

And I’ll wager that those claiming that the Boondocks strip was racist are confused about the difference between characterization and an artist’s commentary. That’s right, isn’t it? You’re referring directly to something a character in the strip said, and taking it at face value, aren’t you?

Hey, it worked for Peanuts.

Workin’ on it.

I offer my congratulations or sympathies, whichever are in order.

I don’t hate

Things that make you go Hmmm

Really, I pity it.

I can’t stand Family Circus, but I’ve got to hand it to Bil Keane for putting up with a lot of shit with class.

Oh, and the creator of Cathy makes me want to kill her.

The only one I enjoy reading are the Chick Tracks. It would be cool if a major newspaper picked it up.

It’s officially Barney Google and Snuffy Smith, even though Google now makes only the occasional cameo appearance.

CalMeacham: Al Scaduto took over both They’ll Do It Every Time (obviously still running) and Little Iodine (which bowed out in 1986).

Actually I prefer Prickly City to Mallard Fillmore, if only because the ‘artist’ is willing to show his disgust/frustration with the Republicans at times, as well.

Does anyone understand “The Dinette Set”? It seems to be a bunch of fat people complaining.

That was already mentioned earlier in this thread (just not by name) - and it’s now one of my favorite strips. Don’t just read the words, take in the art as well - that’s part of what makes the humor. Especially all the little sight they’re able to crowd into a panel. And I love that the dialog doesn’t usually follow a typical setup, punchline rhythm. It’s just naturalistic quirky conversation.

Case in point, this one. That one made me laugh out loud.
