Commercials mentioning "alternative" uses for products

I should preface this by saying I watch no movies and hardly any TV apart from car racing, so my views on commercial trends aren’t particularly well-informed, but I’ve seen a good few commercials lately that follow the theme of woman giving phone/video/tablet/gadget to man about to leave somewhere, and then informing said man that there may be videos and or pictures on there that the lucky man ought to be alone before watching.

I may be giving these companies too much credit, but this seems to me to be a nice concession that they know part of the reason you may be interested in their products are for less than noble uses. Saying, in a nutshell, “You can do a thousand beautiful things with this phone, and oh, yeah, you can take a few honey shots of your southern charms as well”.

This to me is a refreshing change of pace from every commercial seemingly being for all too wistful and precious, such as bank commercials portraying every customer as a generous spirit that chooses their bank of choice with how their kids are going to be fairing 50 years down the line in mind (compared to someone like me, who banks at CIBC since it’s closest to my house).

So what are some other examples you can find of commercials, recent and old, cutting some small bit of the bullshit and including among their advertising a nod to people who buy their products in whole or in part due to less than wholesome or intended reasons. It doesn’t have to be dirty, just not what the product was intended for. There are a billion things we’ve all bought that we don’t use as intended - Q-tips are the best example, which 99% of all that are bought go towards cleaning gunk out of our ears, but which come in boxes explicitly telling us not to stick them in our ears. Of course, Q-tips don’t advertise for that purpose (or advertise at all, now that I think of it).

Can you think of any other examples? Whether you liked the commercial or not isn’t particularly important, but don’t hold in a good rant on my account.
