Community 2010/12/09

After a second viewing where I could pay attention to the details, I liked it. Not my favorite show, but its growing on me. I don’t care about continuity in sitcoms, I prefer they go for the laughs. Abed is really the best character. Chang I find unnecessary though. This was one of the better episodes.

Liked it. They shoulda dispensed with the singing though, Shirly was the only one that could carry a tune.

Yea, taking him off of being a Spanish Teacher was kinda dumb. Now they have to find a way to shoehorn him in every episode.

Well, he would’ve been more shoehorned in if he had stayed a Spanish teacher, since they are all done taking Spanish.

Which critics are you reading? The ones I follow love Community.
The episode worked for me. Just flat out worked. When Annie told him “I’m unhooking the train” and Troy yelled “and we learned how to teleport,” it was both so sweet and so ridiculous at the same time.

Plus, the writers managed to justify the entire last season of LOST for me with two lines.

Yea, but they could’ve just taken more Spanish.

I prefer Chang the teacher, but if they’re going to have him clinging around, they need to relentless abuse him. Make him like Meg from family guy.

Moments like in the 2nd episode, where he came charging in and declared “I FIGURED OUT HOW TO REROUTE THE POWER!” “Reroute it to what?” slinks away

Yeah, that Jesus had a lot of proble… um, I meant Abed. Yeah, Abed.

I get the same impression as Beef. For a couple years it seemed like every other issue of Entertainment Weekly and TV Guide had an article extolling the virtues of Arrested Development. They practically carpet-bombed their readership with pleas to watch the show. (“Best shows you’re not watching.” “Funniest shows nobody watches.” etc…) I see nothing for Community. Not just less, I mean nothing.

It’s probably for the best, though. The AD campaign turned me off of AD quite effectively. I never did end up watching it until it made its way to IFC in syndication. (Speaking of IFC, wtf is up with them now running commercials during movies? Lame.)

I went to a Walgreens this weekend to pick up a couple of things. I think the cinnamon content inside the store was at least 20%…it almost was nose-burning in intensity.

Well, since I’m about to watch it, I’ll include the Hulu link:

And that was hilarious. I particularly liked the idea of a psychologist having to realize his own psychological biases. I do agree that I would have liked to see the actual actors at some point. It would have made the Troy and Abed ending make more sense, too, since Abed decided to stay stop-motion until after Christmas.

I think the idea was that that would be boring. And I agree with SenorBeef that Chang is great when he is relentlessly made fun of. But he’s too much of a woobie to stay that way, I’m afraid.

Hopefully they can at least hold off on him joining the group for a while.
