Another amusing throwaway line, from Troy: “If God were edible, not that I’m Catholic, but if God were edible, he’d be a chicken finger.”
[del]Windmills[/del] copyrights do not work that way.
I just wanted to add that this was the single greatest piece of comedic genius I have every witnessed.
“I have to go give a banana to Annie’s tits”
The note in the cage that simply said, “You should have appreciated me --Abed”
Originally I really didn’t like Shirley. But now I find that it’s her lines that crack me up the most, and the weird things she yells from the background, “Oh look the robot!”
“Oh I can’t watch this I have babies.”
Brita had a great throw away line after the robot dance, "
“You mean crazier than programming robots to replace auto workers?!”
Oh, and “That’s when we went from being a family, to being a family, in italics”
Actually it said “You should have appreciated me --A.B.”, as in: Annie’s Boobs
There is a great scene with Abed and Jeff in his dorm room. During the discussion Abed takes a slurp of float, offers some, then wipes the ‘powder’ off his lip with his sleeve.
Not a seasonal arc yet but yeah, in the last episode…
The head DA guy goes up against his former professor (acting as lawyer for the defense). He somehow plays dirty and uses some of her past to try to win the case. She’s all “ok so we’re playing dirty now?” and uncovers the fact that the DA guy didn’t have his bachelor’s finished when he applied to law school (a few credits short) but said on his law school admission form that he had his bachelor’s and the professor lady had helped him cover it up.
I guess it’s going to be an arc since we’re still not sure if he is going to lose his license or not.
So the reference is “Jeff didn’t get his bachelor’s from an accredited university, and Cutter on L&O didn’t technically get his bachelor’s at all. Both got law degrees and both got found out.”
I managed to find this screen capture of the white board, does anyone have any others of it? I tried to pause but couldn’t. The props department put a damn lot of work into it.
I don’t know if I’ve seen Goodfellas, but it was so clearly a mob movie that I don’t think I missed that much. Definitely the funniest episode in awhile; I absolutely loved it.
Just watched this on the DVR.
For those of you who haven’t seen Goodfella’s, but liked the episode, you’d just about lose your shit if you had seen that movie (which is brilliant in it’s own right, albeit profanity laced). The camera work, especially, was a complete homage to what Martin Scorsese did in that movie.
There’s a classic Scorsese move, where a camera sort of “walks” through a scene, as if you - the viewer - are a character experiencing the events around you. That happens when Annie is walking into the crowd to find her purse shredded.
All the stuff about how they rigged it to guarantee Abed got the chicken job - I was rolling on the floor. Total parody.
There’s a part of this episode where you see the chicken “operation” (i.e. how they show each person’s job; Annie was the runner). This perfectly mimics the cocaine operation they showed in the movie. In the mob movie, the women cutting the coke are naked, to ensure that they don’t steal any product for their own use. In Abed’s operation, they used vegetarians (including Britta); fucking hilarious.
And listening to Abed’s monotone voiceover (thank’s for reminding me of the great “family italics” line), in place of that cool, baritone of Ray Liotta is just too much.
The chicken as a stand-in for “drugs/sex/money/power” gag throughout (and Jeff playing the meta role of “this is nuts”, since Abed was “pre-occupied”) had my laughing constantly.
Best Episode Ever.
