Community (TV Show) comes to Netflix

That quiz personality test that’s going around twitter? I took it and got high match with Abed.

I don’t know if that’s a badge of honor or of shame. I did just rewatch Cougar Town…

I got Daniel Jackson from SG1. I wonder what all characters they have?
eta: Oh, I see that there is a drop down list of “universe” choices–the default is “all.” In *Community *I’m also Abed.

I loved Community when it was on NBC, never saw the final Yahoo season. I started rewatching the other night after seeing this thread. Watching multiple episodes in a row, I’m noticing more jokes that span episodes than the first time around. (Example, in the episode where Dean Pelton is trying to get Troy to play football for Greendale, he makes a comment about how they’re only known for how gay their basketball team is. A couple episodes later, during the debate between Greendale and City College, the debate is suspended because the basketball team needs the gym for practice. And as the team takes the floor, it’s clear that yes, they are very gay.)

Back when Jim Parsons was winning all those Emmys for playing Sheldon Cooper on TBBT, I thought they should have gone to Danny Pudi instead. He absolutely nailed the character of Abed.

Here is a little Community bonus scene from an episode of Cougar Town.

Yeah… my number one out of everything was Abed. Not just Community. Pop pop.

Strong agree, although I think season 4 has its charms too. All of Community is great. Some is superb.

One episode of R&M does refer to Community (hilariously, in my opinion). Good to know the whole series is available on Netflix - I think I missed most of the post-Glover seasons.

Thanks to this thread, I am an addict.

Binged until 4am yesterday.
I still think I am in season one.

I watch it alone. I think with more people it would help the laughs come out.

I just saw a trailer for a movie about Ken Jeong sitting behind a desk! Sadly, it isn’t Chief Starr and the Raiders of the Galaxy.

It’s a really good time for Community to have come to Netflix. Even the less remembered episodes are funny.

I rewatched the whole series a year or two ago (streaming on the CTV web site, I think). Generally I felt that the episodes I disliked weren’t as bad as I remembered and the episodes I liked weren’t as good as I remembered. In particular, some of the high concept episodes weren’t quite as fresh the second time around. Still a very funny show (mostly), though.

When I was rewatching the series, I was surprised to see that the “Ass Crack Bandit” from Season 5 was a callback to a line in Season 2 (when Annie was running for student council)!

I’m glad all the seasons are there including the Yahoo one. It was…different than the rest but still better than most shows out there. Frankie and Elroy were good additions to the cast.

I happened upon this series yesterday. Watched the first 2 eps - not terribly impressed.

What do you think? Should I give it a couple more eps? Or if I didn’t like the 1st 2, am I unlikely to like what follows?

** Dinsdale** it takes a while for the series to get rolling.
The second half of the first season is much stronger than the first half. Stick with it a little longer.

Skip ahead and watch 1.21 and 1.23 - they’re closer to what the show eventually becomes, without being so far ahead that it’s harder to enjoy them without knowing the characters and in-jokes better. If you like those, go back and watch it from the beginning and give it time to grow. It’s much more of a standard sitcom during the early episodes than it later becomes.

Chandler Bing?

Huh.

Could you be any more surprised?

OK - I’ll give it another try. Wanted to like it, as my wife teaches at a CC. And I like Jon Oliver. As expected, Chevy Chase is pretty horrible.

My wife’s comment was, “They look too old for CC students, and their skin is too clear!”

Will have to check it out. My wife only watches sitcoms…and we’re cycling through the same 8-10 every few years.
