Complete nutrition from supplements

My goal is to get all the nutrition my body needs from supplements, so that I don’t have to worry about what I’m eating (or how much).

Currently, I’m taking a couple centrum and some calcium+magnesium pills (elements which centrum lacks). These calciums are the new GNC gelcaps which have calcium carbonate already dissolved to ease absorption. I’m also thinking of incorporating a protein shake. The only one easily accessible to me is Worldwide Pure Protein, which supplies 35g of protein and 50% phosphorus (another thing centrum lacks). The worldwide protein also has another 100% of calcium, but no magnesium so I think I’ll keep sticking to the GNCs.

What else am I missing for a complete diet? Don’t get too holistic on me, but I realize there are necessary substances which don’t have the word “vitamin” in them. I’m also worried that centrum may be missing some other important “traditional” vitamins and minerals (beside calcium, magnesium, and phosphorus).

took a look at the bottle again. To partly answer my own question, it only has 2% potassium and 2% chloride. Also 10% biotin and 30% vitamin K. And that’s just out of the stuff it lists.

That doesn’t meet my goal.

So far, your list is extremely short. Food contains a myriad of substances that we either need, or at least enhance our well-being.

For one thing, where are you getting your fat and carbs? How about your fiber? And how will you deal with the inevitable craving for real food?

You also need calories, protein (or complete sets of amino acids), and fiber.

This is into crackpot territory, and may be stopped by a mod.

Eat a good balanced diet. If you feel you need to take a multivitamin do so. There’s no need to take any more supplements. Whole foods have hundreds if not thousands of micronutrients that we are pretty sure helps with health but aren’t linked to specific problems and so aren’t in specific supplements. We just don’t know enough about food yet to get along without it.

I think this one is better closed.
