I love hotkeys.
Both. I’ve even been known to use alt to open menus.
I’ve also been known to lend Mickey to people who thought they could use a laptop without a mouse but who were wrong. (Who invented those squares anyway? Dell?)
I use both, but probably lean more towards hot keys.
Hotkeys. Why go to the effort of moving my hands from the keyboard just to select a menu item, easily and painlessly?
Of course, I bet the answer depends a lot upon how you use the computer… I spend a lot of my day typing, so I’m habitually working the keyboard anyway. As a counter-example (I think), somebody using a CAD application would likely be more mouse-oriented.
I would love more hot keys. They need a few to shrink or max windows, scroll to the right and left, and a few other things that are only mouse-accessible now.
Hot Keys and on-screen buttons. I’m sure my habit comes from using programs with deep drop-down menus, like Maya and Photoshop.
Assuming you’re in Windows, you can do everything with the keyboard. Admittedly, it’s not all quicker than with the mouse. Using the Tab key to navigate can be very efficient once you know the geography of particular programs. Windows Key + D minimizes everything (and a second time returns you to where you were). And so on.
I use the mouse, but it’s a really cool mouse with lots and lots of extra buttons!
Hotkeys are cool.
Don’t the arrow keys move both scrollbars? I coulda sworn- but I don’t have a keyboard in front of me at the moment to check.
Arrow keys are better at selecting blocks of text. It can be stressful on the wrist trying to get the cursor in exactly the right spot using a mouse.
And ctrl+z invaluable.
