Computer DVD players

I got the collection of the Cosmos TV series on DVD, but it didn’t work when I tried to play it on my computer DVD player. All other movies I’ve tried have worked just fine. I was told that computer DVD players just don’t play some DVDs. Is this true? Is there anything I can do?

I just want to add a “me too,” but with the first disc of the “Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs” Platinum Edition. (Disc Two worked fine; go figure).

Try a DVD-drive cleaning disk, and update your DVD playing software to the latest version. There’s no reason at all that a non-defective computer DVD-ROM drive wouldn’t play any valid DVD disc. The only exception is the Region Coding system, if a disc is coded for a region other than the one your drive is coded for, or if your drive is not coded for a region, the disc will not play.
