computer facial recognition

i have a fairly good layman’s knowledge of facial recognition systems, the use of eigenfaces and the ineffectiveness of disguises. but not many specifics.

so here’s a question to those in the know. would pantyhose over the face prevent easy recognition? although they would smoosh flesh about the face, seems as if most facial landmarks (chin, position of eyes, cheekbones) aren’t affected.

anybody know?

Yep. Pantyhose will totally disrupt the current crop of computer facial recognition techniques. I know because I watched John Cleese do a demonstration of that very thing. Or maybe it wasn’t John Cleese. I couldn’t make out the face.
