Computer problem (mechanical, I think)

Argh! I dropped my Mac laptop (G4). Now the screen is dark. I’ve done this before (yeah, I know… ) and it eventually self corrects in a day or two. Not so this time.

It makes the start-up chime. Anything I should try before I have to shell out bucks to repair it? (Hope, hope, hope)

Thanks in advance.
Hypothetical guy

If you’re brave and have the right sort of tiny screwdrivers, you can open the case and with any luck, the ribbon cable that goes to the LCD popped loose, and that’s the extent of the problem.

The trick is getting in. Apple products are famously difficult to get into.

If you can tell us the exact model (PowerBook, iBook, Titanium, etc) hopefully someone like our very own MacTech will pop by and be able to point you at disassembly instructions.

Thanks gotpasswords that did the trick.

Ahhhh…
