Anyone? Anyone?
Bueller?
We need more info…
What OS?
Are you trying to view the video from a browser (which browser?) or in an application such as Windows Media Player or WinAmp (what application)?
What is throwing this error at you? Your operating system? A bar at the top of your browser? An alert from the application?
If it’s a linked video on a Web page, can you give us the link?
Windows XP. I use Mozilla Firefox for a browser, Google as a search engine.
It’s a sample video clip on a web site, which I won’t link to because of content.
The warning pos up in a box when I click on play. The box has a blue banner on top, and the message “your current security settings do not allow this action”
There is also an icon of a paddle lock and a yellow triangle with an exclamation point.
I tried turning my firewall off, but it still does it.
I can play other videos in other sections of the web site, which is what makes this confusing.
Are you using SpywareBlaster, or other antispyware programs that might restrict the functionality of websites based on a blacklist?
Well, if you’re committed to playing it, I’d open Media Player, go to Tools-> Options, and check out the Security tab.
Be warned that Media Player has a few security flaws in it; MS has seen fit to embed URL data, scripting, remote licence fetching, etc. in their media files, any one of which could be the reason the warning is popping up.
That actually worked. Thanks.
