The last time I checked, Tahiti doesn’t have fiber optic connections. I vote for Oahu too. I already know a lot of people there. I’m not a beach person, but a nice place in the Manoa valley would do me fine.
The Isle of Skye. No worries.
My dilemma is climate. I don’t like hot weather and too much sun, and beaches only temporarily amuse me. Hurricanes suck, too. So that pretty much leaves out a lot of places. I also don’t like cold, windy places, so that eliminates a significant portion of the rest. Climate-wise, Norfolk Island looks perfect, but it’s way too isolated. Plus, the Hurricane thing.
One in the Puget Sound would be acceptable, but I have a feeling that an earthquake/volcano/tsunami is gonna wipe it out sooner rather than later.
The Delmarva Peninsula is technically an island; that might be OK, and I suppose for practical reasons, Manhattan or Long Island would be good choices.
Perhaps an island in the Mississippi or another major river would suffice.
I kind of like the idea of the British Channel Islands, though I don’t like the idea of wearing sweaters in summer.
This is mine, except I’d live in Puerto Rico (Vieques to be exact) and travel freely between the USVI. A US citizen can also just up and move to PR without any kind of paperwork too, and I love Puerto Rican food so that’s a no brainer for me too.
5 since 1950. Not what I’d call a real worry.
Sorry, no can do. Swimming off the island to another place would be OK though.
Austria? :dubious: Maybe Easter Island (has some of the same letters in the name)
And its lovely capital, Perth.
