The funniest parts are a couple of incidents when her princess mannerisms intruded into her normal life. There’s also some pathos.

And some rather good illustrations
Great thread! The stories about entertaining little girls in the cancer ward are heartbreaking.
This thread is probably more awesome than the “ask me about working in Antarctica” thread, and I freaking loved that one.
Oh, and in case anyone else is confused - it’s not about a self-absorbed party girl. It’s about a woman who works as a rent-a-princess for little girls’ birthday parties.
Yep----it’s a great thread!
A combination of good writing, fun, astute observations, social critique, emotions, good artwork… and a real-life princess!
Seriously, folks…the Dope ain’t the only place on the internet where good conversations take place. So click on the link…
I’m a decidedly hetero male in my late 50s and I second this! A seriously and hilariously entertaining thread.
I think it’s a fun thread but I don’t believe the girl. She’s in her 30’s but looks like she’s in her 20’s, pretty enough to be a princess, a talented comic book artist, geek girl and single? Talk about a fairy tale!
Well, she outed herself by linking to her published works, her Kickstarter, her photos, and her real name, so if she’s not actually that person it’d be real easy to call her on it.
I read and post on SA a lot, and I love that thread. I’m glad it got picked up by other sites, the stories are funny and/or heartwarming, the illustrations are gold, and the OP is a great writer. I can see why she was able to sell one comic already, and got a kickstarter for a second funded.
She even mentioned in the thread that she has gotten calls/emails from a couple different movie studios about rights, but she’s not sure if she wants to, since signing away the rights to what is essentially her life is a pretty big deal.
That is a fantastic thread. I ended up reading the whole thing last night. What a wonderful person.
I don’t have anything to add except my endorsement of the linked thread. That was a heart-warming read; thanks for calling it out.
Giving this thread a bump because the Party Princess in question is doing an interview for NPR that’s airing on the weekend edition of All Things Considered. Thought some people might want to know, since they might not want to keep up with the thread on the other forum.
Thanks for the info.
By coincidence I tried to read the SA thread a couple of days ago for updates, and at that time it was available only to members. Now it’s okay. Hmm.
Some pretty cool stuff comes from the Something Awful forums. First Slender Man, now Party Princess.
Wait…why are they never seen in the same place at the same time?
Me, too! I was delighted when I could read it again. Is that a Something Awful thing? Can nonmembers only access their threads a certain number of times a month or something? Hmm indeed.
Her comment about it on her twitter feed. https://twitter.com/AssassinSparkle/status/256205446925393920
No explanation, though.
I did take the opportunity to save all her posts. Click on the “?” on one of her posts and you get only her posts from the thread. Only 5 pages!
I think I was mistaken on the NPR thing…she recorded her session this weekend, but I guess it’s not airing until later? At any rate, her Twitter will have details, I’m sure.
You were correct about the original air date, but it’s been changed. Herself posted yesterday:
“OH OH OH and they’re moving the broadcasting of the interview to Thanksgiving weekend, so that they have time to come up and film a video segment of an actual princess party that I’ll be at, which will be WAY fun. That’ll apparently go on their website the same time the episode airs. TOO COOL!”
Her tumblr seems to get more updates. It mentions her appearance has been rescheduled. She also posted a short video with her interviewer on YouTube.
On SA, forums visibility to non-members “rotates” from time to time to encourage people to sign up.
