Congresswoman carjacked

News item today:

So we’ve come to the point where armed bandits are carjacking elected Congresscritters. (Actually, there’s no indication in the article if the bandits knew who they were carjacking. As best I could tell, it was just a random auto theft.)

This paragraph stuck out:

What am I missing, I don’t see anything remarkable about it so that it should stick out?

Oh never mind, it’s the name. I thought it was going to be about the content.

ETA: nm.

I doubt they knew. That is about the best way to be arrested and incarcerated for a very long time.

Oh but would I have wanted to see their faces when they were told “that was a Congresswoman, genius”.

I suspect that every family member and acquaintance that of these idjits are going to be visited by some very, very serious people belonging to an organization that only goes by initials.

Do congressfolk get special license plates , both in DC and back in their home state? Or is it they just get special parking passes in DC?

IIRC back in 2001-ish I saw a pic that Trent Lott’s Ford had a “Senate 1” plate (or at least that’s what is preserved in my memory for some reason), but most regular Congresspeople’s cars are registered in their state and are their car, not the government’s, so it would vary. During my work stints in and around DC the norm I’ve seen is just regular plates, with the congressional parking tag placed over the driver side dashboard cowl for when they want it seen.
