Though my first suspicion is that teabaggers may be responsible, I think it’s irresonsible to judge them guilty yet. I will want to see what the shooter says his motivations were. To do otherwise is to risk needlessly inflaming an already horrific situation.

Yeah, killing politicians isn’t political. Telling people to kill them isn’t political. But when they actually get killed, saying it was political is political.
She was [?] my congresswoman. I’m just sick about this. Is there any news out there about the gunman yet? I can’t even get onto my local news site, it must be overloaded.
ETA: okay, got onto the site. As of 10 minutes ago (12:29) they are saying that her condition is unkown.
In other words, you are embarrassed to see the real results of your precious Second Amendment.
Read the banner up at the top. Until we have any information, all anyone accomplishes when they start pointing fingers at this point is spreading ignorance.
This is awful. And my mind did jump to the teabagger thing, but it’s premature and disrespectful. Time will tell regardless. Meanwhile I hope these people pull through.

Log into Facebook and the first post I see: “This was a Democrat that was pushing for more border control. No one knows yet but if I we’re to bet i’m sure it was an illegal. It’s sad stuff like this is happening. You’re probably going to see this more as people try to drastically change our country in ways the people don’t want.”

on the gunman, they are saying early 20’s, and witnesses say white, and 15-20 shots were fired by a glock.
the police are saying she is still alive.
i guess we will find out more when they have the press conference in about 20ish minutes.
Huffington Post said she was dead a few minutes ago but now says “shot in the head” and “condition unknown”. A White House staffer is believed to have been killed.
As of 3:12 EST news organizations are stating that they incorrectly reported Rep. Giffords dead, and that in fact she is in surgery, though in very critical condition.
Others have died, though.
It’s very, very sad for them and their loved ones. My thoughts go out to them.
The news-ticker on CNN is saying that a federal judge was amongst those who were seriously injured.
Has there been a Congressperson shot since Leo Ryan (Jonestown)?
