Congresswoman Marjorie Taylor Greene MUST GO

Just came across this on Twitter: https://twitter.com/i/status/1699064590850510875

Money quote: “You’re going to tell me that back in the Ice Age, how much taxes did people pay, and how many changes did governments make to melt the ice?”

The chutzpah:

If she tries, she’ll find out there’s a pretty big difference between what works in GA-14 and what works in the state as a whole.

Heck, even in her deep-red district she ran barely above Donald Trump in 2020 while running against literally no one; and she lost almost nine percentage points (and 60,000 votes) in 2022. I don’t think she’s got anywhere near what it would take to win the statewide Republican primary much less a matchup against a Democrat.

A Democrat congresswoman has put forward a censure resolution, and brought receipts. CVS Pharmacy-length receipts. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=015gqS82eMk

I’d love to know what her staff thinks of her. There’s no way it’s favorable, unless they’re as addled as she is. They might have actually seen what a functioning rep looks like, and she comes up wanting. Same with Boebert.

Can we please refer to the Congress woman as a Democratic congresswoman?

Sorry, Canadian here, and not completely up-to-speed on exact syntax… if a mod could correct for me I’d appreciate it

Hey, just a personal pet peeve. The republicans have made that usage a slur, but it’s probably not recognize universally. No harm, no foul. We can both agree that greene sucks though right? lol

Yeah. What the hell is it with people saying Democrat when they mean Democratic?

Aside from being another way to tweak the opposite side of the aisle, apparently nobody really knows.

It’s hard to call someone “democratic” in one breath and “socialist” in the next. Just as some people on this board insist on using the term “reactionary” instead of “conservative”; it’s the same logic. They don’t think the word is being used properly.

It’s really not much more than that.

Well, that and maybe a bit of honest confusion. Republicans belong to the Republican Party. The word “Republican” serves as both a noun and adjective. Those not trying to use it as a pejorative might assume Democrats are from the Democrat Party because they’d follow the same semantic rules.

I realize this discussion is a pretty big tangent from this thread, and humbly suggest if we want to continue it, it might be worthy of its own thread.

I blame John Boehner. It may go back further than that, but he used it relentlessly and it stuck. Now innocent bystanders are using it!

one can be a democrat, and a democrat can be a member of the democratic party.

According to a friend of mine who volunteered for the local GOP committee (long before it morphed into the GQP), one of their catchphrases was “There’s nothing democratic about the Democrat Party.”

It’s really disheartening and disappointing to see this twit surrounded by a crowd of microphones every time she exits a door, when nothing she ever says, or ever has said, is worthwhile.

Outside the U.S., there are major political parties called Liberal Democrats and Social Democrats. When indicating party affiliation, we’d certainly say “Liberal Democrat MP”.

The notion that it’s a slur in the U.S. is certainly odd. There’s a good argument that “Democrat” is a better adjective to indicate party affiliation rather than adherence to philosophical principles.

I’ve started a thread for ‘Democrat’ vs. ‘Democratic’ discussion.

On the contrary. To news organizations trying to get page views and subscribers and ratings, it’s very worthwhile. The nonsense she spews draws outrage and other kinds of attention. She’s a gold mine from their perspective.

I mean, it’s fool’s gold, but there is no shortage of fools in this country.

There’s a reason why MTG is a name people know among the 435 total representatives, most of whom relatively few people have ever heard of.

Empty Greene has called for a privileged resolution to force an impeachment vote on the Director of Homeland Security, meaning action must be taken on it in the next two legislative days, this shortly after a smuggler got into a car accident and killed two people in Georgia.

Same party that insists you not politicize any mass shooting that takes place.

I felt a strange twinge of pity for MTG, though I share no views with her, because some flipped-out dude had threatened her over phone, as she reported to NBC yesterday. It’s a shame that this dude couldn’t control impulse. I don’t feel too much pity since she could tear into ass anyone who’d confront her, just from being somewhat athletic and all. And I know this isn’t in the spirit of this thread but I gotta feel humanity toward others, even toward an egotist like MTG.
