Congresswoman Marjorie Taylor Greene MUST GO

MTG has scheduled a press conference for today. Who’s going to be threatened with a trespassing arrest this time?

In light of the most recent senate elections there, I’d be interested in hearing your reasoning for this statement.

Switching gears a little, she’s already posted that Dems have made a mistake in freeing her up from committee assignments and in that I actually believe she’s telling the truth. It’s pretty clear that she doesn’t have the intellectual wherewithal to engage in the actual work of being a member of the House; she’s mostly interested in being the center of attention and cheerleading for Trump and his followers.

I was listening to soundbites on the news, and it sounded a lot like she was saying “I don’t actually believe those things - I was just saying them because my voters believed them.”

Part of me is thinking “I hope those voters are listening now, and realize that she isn’t actually one of them”; the other part fears that because it means they’ll elect someone even crazier.

For sure if the R party as a whole comes out and says

All of us, from Southern Strategy to Gingrich and on through to Trump, MTG, and everyone in between has just been playing you fools and telling you what you all wanted to hear. …

there’ll be an interesting reaction from those folks. For very interesting values of “interesting”.

Yeah I thought the same thing. Also don’t miss the “whataboutism” at the end, calling “the media” just as bad! Yeesh.

Of course, some part of “the media” is just as bad, in fact, is a major propagator of the badness. Just doesn’t happen to be the part that her ilk are always attacking.

And likely a significant overlap in these, and the followers of Ben Shapiro.

“I’m sorry for saying all those things that are wrong and offensive, and I sincerely mean that and I’m happy to say that,” Greene said.

“I think if Marjorie was truly apologetic, it wouldn’t have taken us literally removing her from her committees,” [Hogg] said.

My youngest daughter pulls that sometimes. But she’s six years old and is learning it isn’t a valid excuse. So you can say MGT isn’t quite as mature as a six-year-old girl.

There really is a lot of kindergarten level morality, kindergarten level logic, and kindergarten level personal responsibility in the whole con that has become the RW world.

Yeah, there’s no way to make the ‘allowed’ verbiage reasonable or logical. It’s just another way of evading personal responsibility–which is fast becoming a Republican signature move.

By the way, I wish we weren’t giving that person the honor of the three-initial name (a la FDR and JFK). I realize that most people using it do not intend it as an honor, but…even so.

(Personally, I think “Empty Greene” makes more sense as a syllable-saving way of referring to that particular individual. Same number of syllables as in “MTG.”)

Sounds like a certain golf course in Palm Beach County, Florida. Considering the number of people who canceled their memberships after 1/6.

I only use AOC because her lastname is long. Otherwise, as long as it’s clear who we’re talking about, I’ll treat her like any other politician and just call Greene.

She doesn’t come up enough out of context for me to not just use her first name once. And I see no reason to use her middle name, as it’s not compound last name, and there are no other Marjorie Greenes I could be referring to

I honestly don’t know why she uses her maiden name. It made sense that Sarah Huckabee Sanders used it so people knew she was Mike Huckabee’s daughter. But are we supposed to know anything about Robert Taylor?

I just think of her as Margie Q.

P.S. I always got lame crap like pick-up-stix in the Hannukah grab bag at Hebrew school. Why couldn’t I have ever gotten something cool like a space laser?

It’s disturbing that there are so many republicans who still don’t have the courage to stand up to their own radical base. But someone has to do it, and it has to be the democrats. It’s a case of one group of voters basically saying to the other “Oh no you don’t - we’re not going to just sit back and let you run this train over the cliff.”

I’m glad Democrats actually did have the courage to stand up not only to republicans in congress but also their voters and right wing media. It’s time to simply ignore the alternative facts universe and just get to work. Doing that is probably the way to move forward, with the understanding that there will always be detractors.

The thing is, I don’t think they really have a lot of core beliefs other than the belief that their clan should be at the top of the social/economic/political hierarchy.

They don’t.

Something they never understand is even if they magically poofed the world into some white-only thing they want they would be very quickly at each-other’s throats for something else. Presbyterian vs Methodist or blue eyes vs brown eyes or Georgia vs Alabama…something.

IIRC when loads of weekend warriors drove out to “protect” Cliven Bundy and his cattle and the police mostly left them alone it didn’t take long for them to start fighting amongst themselves. Nothing overly dramatic but these people just don’t play well with others no matter who that is.

This. This, this, this.

If you put into power people who get their power from divisiveness, they will turn on you and on each other.

You can’t get to safety that way. You can’t get to peace that way. You can’t get anywhere that way except smaller and smaller groups intent on destroying each other.

I wish so much that we could somehow get these frightened people to look up and see that.

Jesus fucking Christ. I’m no MTG fan, but a woman’s name may mean more to her than a chance to hype her tie to a man. It’s her name, not just her dad’s. And if a person wants to use three names, that’s fine.

Bingo. I’ve never understood why some who as much as damn near said that they want the US to be a christian theocracy never thinks that through. Catholic or Protestant, and which denomination thereof. Here in the “bobble beyelt” I’ve heard members of some of the latter’s sects spew as much hatred toward the former as they did the “mooslems”.
